As snow melts high in the mountains, April brings a rush of fresh water to the valley, making it one of the best times to seek out waterfalls in and around Kelowna.
Just south of Peachland, Hardy Falls Regional Park offers an easy, approximately 1 km (0.62 miles) walk along a flat, accessible trail, ideal for a wide range of visitors, including those using wheelchairs or exploring with strollers.
You’ll find more waterfall experiences throughout the region, from the forested trails of Mill Creek Regional Park in Kelowna to the rugged beauty of Fintry Provincial Park and Bear Creek Provincial Park in West Kelowna.

Kelowna’s wine roots run deep, and in April, it’s time to celebrate these roots with BC Wine Month! You can swirl, sip, and savour fresh pours, especially crisp, aromatic whites that capture the brightness of the season, at the more than 40 wineries in and around Kelowna. Spring is an especially rewarding time to explore the wineries, with fewer crowds, new vintage releases, open patios, and a renewed energy across the valley.
As the vineyards begin to stir, nearby orchards burst into bloom. At The Harvest Golf Club, fairways wind through flowering fruit trees and vines, creating a setting where every swing comes with a view, including sweeping sights of Okanagan Lake.
With warmer days settling in, outdoor markets return, bringing a buzz of local flavour back to the community. The Kelowna Farmers’ & Crafters’ Market opens its outdoor season in early April, with each visit revealing something new as the region’s freshest ingredients begin to roll in. Follow along on Instagram for opening details and plan to stop by often as the season unfolds.

April brings a welcome lift in temperature, with daytime highs averaging around 16°C (61°F). As the sun lingers longer, afternoons feel mild and inviting, while mornings and evenings still carry a cool edge. Dressing in layers will help you stay comfortable throughout the day, whether you’re out exploring or settling in on a patio. If you need an extra layer, stop by the Kelowna Visitor Centre to browse a selection of cozy hoodies and crewnecks.
The month is generally dry, with only occasional light showers, totalling less than an inch of rainfall. As snow continues to melt at higher elevations, some trails can be soft and muddy. Sturdy footwear is recommended, and it’s best to avoid areas that may be unstable or temporarily inaccessible while the ground transitions into spring.
